VegTO is undergoing a makeover in response to member feedback and the current economic landscape.
You asked for more in-person events - more opportunities to connect with other members, discover new restaurants, plant-based products and businesses, meet local and national experts in various industries and create new and lasting friendships. With that in mind, and because we don’t want distance to be a barrier to building community, we will be focusing on creating events to bring you together, both in person and virtually.
We also have information to share about VegTO Fest. After initially providing us with potential dates in 2026, the city rescinded so they could produce their own FIFA World Cup event. Alternate locations with sufficient capacity were explored but we were unable to secure an appropriate venue on dates that makes sense for our event. This means we will not be hosting an event of the size and scope of VegTO Fest this year.
We aren’t totally closing the doors on VegTO Fest, we’re just taking the time necessary to rethink it, and are hoping to bring it back in 2027 informed by your feedback.
We have listened to the vendors, sponsors, partners, and attendees who have been part of VegTO Fest for years and we understand that the current economic situation has made it challenging for them to participate in the past 2 years. We’ve seen other large plant-based events and other Toronto mainstays like Taste of the Danforth downsize or disappear altogether.
All of us on the board love VegTO Fest as much as you do, and we are excited by the prospect of bringing our community together this year in a different way. We are developing a slate of events, seminars and workshops covering a wide variety of topics and we look forward to sharing them with you!
We’d love to hear your feedback on this and will be sending out a survey in the coming weeks so we can understand which programs you would want to see in the line up this year.
If you have questions or concerns, please direct them to our Board of Directors at vegtobod@veg.ca.
