Podcast 134: Waiting for the caffeine-free tahini-flavoured tempeh
Saturday, 14 March 2009

Angelina and Colleen may be short on energy this week, but they're well-stocked with tahini-related topics and appeals to our resourceful podcast listeners.

While Angelina is dabbling in green tea as a new means of staying on top of a frenzied workload, Colleen is a recovered caffeine addict with tales to share from her days beneath the spell of the coffee bean. The ladies ask listeners for suggestions of caffeine-free vegan energy boosters to save the day.

Tahini, again taking main stage in podcast land from two weeks ago, shows up in Colleen's complex smoothies and atop John's toast as well as in both Angelina's sweet and savoury breakfasts. Also look for it in hummus, in banana sandwiches, and as an all-around comfort food.

In anticipation of the Beyond Earth Hour at Hart House on March 28, TVP is launching a contest in search of the ''most carbon-friendly meal." The winner will receive a free ticket to the event. Send your submissions to tvp@veg.ca by 10am EST Saturday, March 21.

Good news is that Angelina has a hot tip on some cool treats making their way to Canada from the So Delicious ice cream company. The bad news is that Colleen has learned that Pure Vegetarian at 668 Dundas St W. is no longer in business.

This podcast is a sleepless 31 minutes.
