Saturday, February 25th, 10am - 3pm (Goodwood, Ontario) Richters Herbs - How to plant a veggie garden - Join renowned gardener, Marjorie Mason for an introduction to vegetable gardening. They day is free and starts at 10am. You will learn when to start planning your garden, and how to allocate space for the veggies you want to grow. You'll learn which seeds need to be started early and which can be sown later. You'll learn how prepare your garden for planting and how to improve the soil with compost. Herbal teas are available. FYI - There aren't many vegan-friendly establishments close by, so make sure to bring your own food if you are staying until 3pm. Admission Free! | | Wednesday, March 7, 7pm (Whitby Public Library) On Wednesday evening at the main branch of Whitby Public Library, Room 1A, we will view the exciting documentary "Forks over Knives". The film will start at 7pm. Don't miss this opportunity. All of the acclaimed physicians at the helm of this movement are featured in this film. | Jasmine Garden (Whitby) We held our first meeting of 2012 at Jasmine Garden, Durham's family-owned vegetarian restaurant. | Twenty-six people came out for an Italian dinner at Prego in Whitby. We were given half of the wine cellar for merriment and good food. Many stayed several hours since the good conversation and mingling was so rewarding. November 2, 2011: Thai Orchid (Pickering) Dinner at Thai Orchid, 1450 Kingston Road, was an interesting venture into Thai and Malaysian dishes. |
Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011 : Bombay Cuisine Restaurant  | About 20 members and guests shared great Indian food at Bombay Grill on Aug 3rd. We welcomed some new faces and chatted with friends. There was a t-shirt raffle and a lot of valuable information shared. |

 | April 6, 2011 in Oshawa The Garden Grove Oshawa's first vegan café | Garden Grove, 11 Taunton West, Oshawa’s only vegan café and yoga studio, invited DLV to drop-in for a lite meal and a free yoga class. A special dinner area was set-up and about 20 people chatted and devoured delicious soups and juices. We wish Candace all the best! We'll be back! |

 | December, 2010 - Oshawa Hola! DLV members and friends celebrated winter and all our favourite holidays at Mexico Lindo - Oshawa on Simcoe Street North. Owner, Julia, and her staff were fantastic and served a variety of Mexican burritos, tortillas, fajitas and enchiladas with vegetarian or vegan fillings and toppings. Our pinata filled with vegan treats was a big hit. Everyone got a free DLV t-shirt too!

 | Sept 1st, 2010 Frankie's in Uxbridge Head chef/owner, Donna van Veghel-Wood, an expert in gluten-free cuisine, made sure that there were vegan, gluten-free desserts for the evening. Their regular Mediterranean menu is both Celiac, vegetarian and vegan-friendly, and also free of nuts. Great conversations and new friends! |

DLV sponsored a Raw-Vegan-Potluck Dinner at Whitby Public Library. Registered nurse, health educator and Co-Founder Durham Raw Food Society, Jenny Berkeley, spoke on the benefits of going raw.
