The three steps to help us complete Project 2010

In November 2007, the Toronto Vegetarian Association board of directors set the goal of achieving 2010 members by the end of the year 2010.

Read more about the goal here, or follow the three steps below.

  1. Go veg - Learn more about embracing plant-based living
  2. Join TVA - Inspire others to choose a healthier, greener, more peaceful lifestyle
  3. Tell a friend - Help us meet our goal of 2010 by 2010

1. Go veg

The Toronto Vegetarian Association makes it easy to choose a plant-based diet - we help people by providing information and support through our Lifelines newsletter, our drop-in Resource Centre, and our website, veg.ca.

We know that choosing a plant-based lifestyle is the most effective way to have an impact for the environment, for personal health and for animals. That's what drives everything we do - from this website to our Annual Vegetarian Food Fair.

To find out more about switching to a plant-based diet, try our Veggie Challenge.

2. Join TVA

For more than 60 years, we've helped to build a thriving vegetarian community in Toronto - by coordinating social groups, supporting vegetarian businesses and building North America's largest vegetarian event, the Annual Vegetarian Food Fair.

Charitable contributions fund all of TVA’s programs – from printing the Vegetarian Directory to purchasing books and videos for the TVA Resource Centre. Your donation enables us to achieve our mission - to inspire people to choose a healthier, greener, more peaceful lifestyle.

By adding your voice to ours, you'll help TVA to grow as an authority on the issues of health, the environment and compassion for animals. Your support will enable the Toronto Vegetarian Association to move forward with a stable funding base as we expand our efforts and build new programs.

Visit our Secure Donation Page to join us today.

3. Tell a friend

As each new member adds their voice to the Toronto Vegetarian Association, we’re able to expand our efforts, to reach out into new communities and to deliver information about healthier, greener, more peaceful food choices in innovative new ways.

Our goal of 2010 by 2010 will help put in place the long-term support we need to keep things going for 60 more years. If each of our existing members recruits just one new member, we could achieve our goal of 2010 members by mid-September.

Ask your friends to join us as we set out to demonstrate what we know from experience: vegetarianism is on the rise and we're not looking back.

What we could do with 2010

With 2010 the support and endorsement of 2010 members, the Toronto Vegetarian Association could do a whole lot more. Here are just a few of the possibilities...

1. Candlelight vegetarian dinners - Held in conjunction with Earth Hour, these dinners would demonstrate that vegetarian eating is the greener choice.

2. A week long Veggie Challenge - Tens of thousands of Canadians, including notable public figures, actors and musicians try a meat-free diet for one week

3. TVA-sponsored lecture series - The Veg Lectures provoking discussion about plant-based eating at Universities and Colleges in the Greater Toronto Area.

4. Daily media requests - TVA representatives are interviewed for TV, radio and newspapers, helping to spread the word about the many joys and benefits of veg living.

With your help, let's make these dreams into reality.
